Is our planet really doomed?

Our society just keeps gradually declining. Global warming, WWIII, shootings, violence against POC/other minorities, new variants of COVID-19, monkeypox, you name it, all combine into the perfect storm. Nowadays every calamity seems to follow one after the other. We do not need to live in a perfect world to begin with because that would be too boring, but there is definitely a line between imperfect and messed up. All of my worst nightmares when I was in Grade 6 are basically coming true and if my pre-teen self were to see all that is happening now she would weep.

Not to mention there has been talk of an economic recession to come in the coming year, and the media will continue to fear-monger as usual. We just can’t seem to catch a break.
